New interview about Ego Planet -Hello everyone, before starting with the actual interview, can you introduce yourself to the readers?
My name is Chris Baker and I am the founder and guitarist of Ego Planet
- Can you tell us about your musical project and how it was born?
During the COVID-19 pandemic I started writing music again as an attempt to productively pass the time during lockdown. After a few months I ended up accumulating close to 20 instrumental demos and that’s when I called up Jarrett Mead to add some lyrics and vocals. We currently have two singles out right now and are putting the final touches on our first full length album.
- How did you think of your name? Can you retrace the genesis and the meaning of it?
The name was somewhat inspired by the strange world of social media and the weird types of ego you consume in that realm. We live on an Ego Planet? I honestly just thought those two words would look awesome with a cool font haha
- What are your influences and who inspired you?
I love a huge variety of heavier music and bluesy influenced rock. Everything from Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and The Sword to bands like Free and The Black Crowes.
- Tell me your favorite bands, for each member of the group?

- How do you compose your songs?
All of the songs begin with a riff idea. Once I have the riff I build around it within Logic. I will record a bunch of parts and copy and paste them wherever to get the outline of the song. Once I’m happy with the structure I learn the entire piece and re-record it over some programmed drums. Then I send it to Jarrett and Steve and let them add their flavors to it.
- Tell us about your first live experience and your most recent!
Have you ever had "stage anxiety"? Do you have any suggestions for newbies?
Ego Planet hasn’t played a show yet. Hoping to change that very soon!
- What do you think of your fans? What is the strangest anecdote related to them?
This whole thing is brand new but I am really grateful for everyone that’s taken the time to listen and check us out so far. Nothing but love!
