Immaterium enters the Symphonic Metal scene with a debut EP called ‘The Primal Evil’. The EP is going to be released at 14.12.2021.
After months of isolation, Ma’ar Gareth, a bored bedroom composer had to give vent to the masses of ideas and concepts. Her imagination , fueled by sci-fi books and movies, led her to writing ‘The Primal Evil’. Armed with an old laptop and a free DAW program, she created four orchestral soundscapes, picturing the visions of our dark, distant future engulfed in war and treachery. Her tunes were completed by Zebyl and Barthelemy, (guitars, bass, drums), Filip Robertsson, Lucas Rodrigues and Craig Cairns from Midnight Prophecy (vocals)
It is not hard to notice Ma’ar Gareth’s influences. Progressive guitars of Gojira in ‘Hymn of The Warmaster’ and ‘The Curse of Enlightenment’ visibly contrast with melodic, clearly inspired by Amon Amarth riffs of ‘Vargöld, when all is dust’ and „The Phoenix Falls’. Trying not to rip off Epica and Septicflesh, she composed orchestral and synth arrangements to enrich her songs with an epic and fierce atmosphere.
Despite the heavy instrumentals, she decided to part from the extreme vocals and cooperate with vocalists in heavy, power and even opera metal style. Her based on sci-fi series lyrics depict the weakness of the greatest of us, the madness that can defeat the mightest of warriors and the impending doom that looms over humanity.
‘They look in the sky with high hopes for the better future. They don't know yet that the future will bring only war’, says the quote under ‘Hymn of The Warmaster
