Hello everyone, before starting with the actual interview, can you introduce yourself to the readers?
We are Otherwise Dead, an American metal band from Plano, TX (Dallas metro)
- Can you tell us about your musical project and how it was born?
Otherwise Dead is the child of guitarist Taylor Kettle and drummer Matthew Hicks who met in college and enjoyed playing music together. They auditioned multiple people eventuality bringing in guitarist/first bassist Tyler Rock, bassist Jeremy Pichè, and deciding on Maxton Donnell as their frontman and vocalist
- How did you think of your name? Can you retrace the genesis and the meaning of it?
That is for a separate interview, it's too much to divulge rn
- What are your influences and who inspired you?
We all have varied influences that we bring to each session. They range from drowning pool to black dahlia murder to many others
- Tell me your favorite bands, for each member of the group?
This one is difficult to answer, we all listen to multiple genres from multiple decades of music. We would have to say drowning pool or lamb of god is up there right now as 1 and 2, both their new albums are great!
- How do you compose your songs?
Taylor will usually have something cooking and its very organic the way the rest of the band plays off what hes introducing us to. Lyrics and vocals are apart of songs from the beginning. Maxton feels the best way to write these is by being involved with compositions from the very beginning.
- Tell us about your first live experience and your most recent!
Have you ever had "stage anxiety"? Do you have any suggestions for newbies?
Stage anxiety will happen to the most seasoned of musicians. Take a shot, smoke a joint, calm the nerves before so its to not snowball and the crowd feels that energy.
- What do you think of your fans? What is the strangest anecdote related to them?
We love them! Its why we do what we do. We haven't seen anything strange, yet.
- Before concluding, we leave room for you to add the last few things!
Check us out if you're in need of something high energy and remember we are all in this together!
